Talk for Carol Service 2012 including the Carol Singing World Record attempt

Usain Bolt intro.
Get a photo of Usain Bolt's head from Google images, print this onto light card, cut round and make a mask.

Wear it with a track suit land do the pointing thing he does.

He is coming to London 2012 Olympics. I wonder how many more world records he will break?

2008 OLYMPICS - BEJING CHINA
100m - 9.69 Seconds
200m - 19.30 Seconds
4x100m - 37.10 Seconds

2009 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS - BERLIN
100m - 9.58 Seconds
200m - 19.19 Seconds

2011 Daegu, South Korea, World Championships

4x100 metres relay with team Jamaica setting a world record time of 37.04.

The thing about records is that they are always there to be broken.

At this church on Sunday 18th December from 6 pm we will be attempting to break the Guinness World Record for the most number of people singing the same carols at the same time around the country. The number of people should exceed 15,000.

I've talked about Usain Bolt's world records. He is a fantastic athlete.

What about Jesus? Could he get into the Guinness Book of World Records? There are some records that he set that will not be broken.

The first and only conception by a virgin, though I'm sure that therehave been others who have claimed this!

The only person to feed over 5000 from a boy's packed lunch.

The only person to turn Evian into Chateau Lafite!

The first person to walk on water. Shortly, and briefly, followed by Peter!

The only person who has ever told the wind and waves to die down and they obeyed, though at least one other, famous example tried and failed!

The only person who has brought at least three dead people back to life.

The only perfect person.

He was one of many who were crucified, but he is the only person who has come back from death, permanently. The risen Jesus was seen by over 500 people.

However, because he has conquered death, one day many will follow him and, like him, get new resurrection bodies.

On that day the Guinness Book of Records will be irrelevant. Instead, Jesus Book of Life will be the only book that is important. In that book are the names of all those people who have made the baby of Bethlehem their King, their friend, their saviour.

Do you want to get into the Guinness Book of World Records? Come back here on Sunday 18th at 6 pm.

Do you want to be in Jesus' Book of Life? Come to him, asking for his forgiveness, love, peace and power. Turn from all you know to be wrong and follow His example and teaching. This is the gift God wants to give everyone this Christmas and forever.
